In most of the mundane ways, things weren’t all that different. People got married, had kids, died, mourned those they lost. Bought houses, got jobs, got an education, did things with friends. All the usual stuff.
It is, of course, the ways they did most of those things that differed, sometimes wildly. It doesn’t take long to know that down-timers are shocked that up-timers believe 18 year olds are old enough to marry. And it doesn’t take long for up-timers to learn that a betrothal is as binding to a down-timer as a marriage, unlike (easily breakable) up-time engagements.
